English Heritage stages historic events at the Castle which draw large crowds. Scarborough Council has operated the 'Naval Warfare' events at Peasholme Park since the 1920s. Each miniature ship is driven by an electric motor and has pyrotechnic effects to simulate gunfire. They are operated by a man sitting inside, each 'ship' being a couple of metres long.
